Product Design & Experience Using the ULIKE Air 10
First Impressions
Like their previous releases, Ulike's newest IPL came in a huge box with quite the heft. (Is it me, or does it seem to get bigger with every version? At this point, it's the size of a high-heel shoe box.)
When you open it, you'll immediately see the unit, enclosed in a protective casing.
Taking it out of the box, the device feels solid and well-made. It's substantial enough to convey durability but not so heavy that it becomes unmanageable when it's time for your treatments.
The chrome-coated finish adds a polished, high-end feel. While this is more of an aesthetic feature, it’s a nice touch that makes the Air10 feel premium.
This is a stark contrast to some IPL devices on the market, which can feel overly lightweight or even flimsy.
We tested the purple model, which has a subtle, modern look, but it’s worth noting that the device is also available in other colors for those who prefer a different style.
Ease of Use
Ergonomics & Handling
One noticeable update in the Ulike Air 10 is the slightly larger head. This is likely due to the additional Xenon lightbulb for its new dual-light technology.
Despite this design change, the device doesn’t feel top-heavy. The weight feels evenly distributed, so extended treatment sessions shouldn't lead to strain or discomfort.
The updated design also features a slight ergonomic curve that should provide a better grip, making it easier to hold and maneuver.
Buttons & Control Layout
The Ulike Air 10 features a simple, beginner-friendly control layout.
There are just three buttons to toggle, making it easy to operate, even for those new to IPL devices.
Rather than an LED screen, the device uses well-placed light indicators to display settings and modes, keeping the interface clean and intuitive.
One small convenience: unlike many devices that require a long press to turn on, the Air 10 powers up with a quick press, making it easy to start a session.
This is especially useful if, like our tester, you keep beauty devices in a drawer and only turn on the power strip when needed. You can quickly pick it up and start anytime.
Operating the Air 10 becomes second nature after a few uses—by the third session, you’ll be able to navigate the controls effortlessly.
Size & Portability
(Photo: A side-by-side photo comparison between the Air 10 and Air 3.)
The Ulike Air 10 is slightly larger but noticeably heavier compared to its predecessor, the Ulike Sapphire Air 3.
At 8.14 inches (L) x 2.7 inches (W) x 2.14 inches (D), it's neither the smallest nor the lightest IPL on the market.
This added bulk is understandable, given the more advanced technology integrated into the unit, but it does make the device feel somewhat hefty for handheld use.
While still “portable,” the Air 10 is not particularly travel-friendly. It lacks a protective case or travel bag, which limits its suitability for on-the-go use.
Though it can fit easily in your luggage, if you're a frequent traveler, you'll need to find a solid casing for it.
On the plus side, the device doesn’t use batteries, avoiding potential issues at airport security. In fact, one of our testers successfully brought it along on a transatlantic trip during the holidays without issue.
Overall, while traveling with the Ulike Air 10 is feasible, its size, weight, and lack of protective accessories suggest there’s room for improvement in portability.
Operations
Before you begin, always wear protective safety goggles to shield your eyes from any intense pulsed light emitted during treatment.
While the Ulike Air 10 has built-in safety features, the flashes of light can still be uncomfortable and potentially harmful to sensitive eyes over time.
The goggles are aviator-style shades that fold for easy storage. They fit snugly around the eyes and cover all sides to prevent any stray light from getting in.
However, the fit can vary from person to person, so make sure they cover your eyes completely. If they don’t fit properly, you might need to purchase separate IPL glasses for extra protection.
While the goggles are easy to see through in a well-lit room, visibility can be limited in dim lighting, so it’s best to use the device in a well-lit area.
The manual also recommends looking away while using the device, but in practice, is difficult to do if you’re trying for complete coverage of the treatment areas.
Our tester’s solution is to use a mirror to monitor progress and avoid directly looking at bright lights or flash windows.
Another thing you’ll notice upon turning the device on is the fan noise—it’s fairly loud, similar to a hair dryer. This is likely due to the need to cool multiple lights and the cooling system itself.
While it’s noticeable, it’s not overly disruptive and is understandable given the power of the device.
One tester also appreciated the light from the skin sensor, which helps you see the area it's checking your skin tone for and ensuring proper contact.
The Ulike Air 10 is generally easy to operate, with clear, user-friendly instructions that guide you through each step.
Speed / Flashing Modes
The Ulike Air 10 has three primary flashing modes—Fast, Normal, and High—plus an advanced SHR mode for specialized treatments.
Mode | Description | Best For | Tips |
---|---|---|---|
Fast Mode (2x pulse, low intensity) | Flashes twice in quick succession at low intensity, every 0.5 seconds. | Maintenance or touch-ups on larger areas (e.g., legs, arms). | Start with this mode for a skin test. Practice the rhythm to avoid lifting the device too early. |
Normal Mode (1x pulse, mid-intensity) | Delivers one pulse at mid-intensity, balancing speed and power. | Finer or lighter hair on larger areas; easier maneuvering for delicate areas (e.g., bikini line). | Use for steady and precise treatments on sensitive areas. |
High Mode (2x pulse, high intensity) | Delivers two fast pulses at high intensity. Pauses between flashes ensure cooling and even treatment. | Thicker, coarser hair on less sensitive areas (e.g., legs, back). | Allow the device to linger for pre- and post-cooling. Great for “stamping” technique. |
SHR Mode (4x pulse, very high intensity) | Four-pulse bursts at very high intensity (26J per pulse), tailored for thick or dense hair. Requires manual operation. | Thicker, denser hair (e.g., armpits, bikini line, beard). | Pre-cool areas before treatment to reduce discomfort. |
Fast Mode
In Fast Mode, the device flashes twice in quick succession with low intensity, flashing every 0.5 seconds.
This Mode is ideal for maintenance or touch-up treatments on larger areas, such as the legs or arms.
I recommend starting with Fast Mode for a skin test to make sure your skin responds well.
It’s the quickest option but can be tricky for beginners as the dual pulse can initially feel abrupt.
Tip: When using Fast Mode, you might accidentally raise it too early if you're unfamiliar with the rhythm, so practice makes perfect.
Normal Mode
In Normal Mode, the device delivers one pulse at mid-intensity, which strikes a balance between speed and power.
It’s ideal for finer or lighter hair and works well for larger areas. The slight pause between flashes makes it easier to maneuver, especially in more delicate areas like the bikini line.
High Mode
High Mode delivers two fast pulses at high intensity. It is best for thicker, coarser hair, typically in less sensitive areas like the legs or back.
The pauses between pulses in High Mode help ensure proper cooling and even treatment, allowing you to know when to move on to the next area.
High Mode also works well for people who prefer “stamping” rather than “gliding” for better coverage, but you’ll need to count flashes so you don’t raise the unit prematurely. Be sure to let the device linger for pre- and post-cooling, which helps with comfort.
Note: Even if you set it to High Mode, the device will automatically adjust the energy level to accommodate your skin tone if you have darker skin.
SHR Mode (Super Hair Removal)
SHR Mode delivers a four-pulse burst with very high intensity (26J per pulse). It’s recommended for thicker, denser hair in areas like the armpits, bikini line, or beard.
Manual Mode is required for SHR to ensure full control of the treatment, as this Mode doesn’t have an auto setting.
SHR can sting, especially in darker areas of the skin, so it’s important to pre-cool the area by letting it linger a bit before flashing to reduce discomfort. Apply light pressure and let the device stay in contact with your skin for a moment before flashing to ensure effective treatment.
You also might notice a distinct burning smell during SHR, which is common with high-intensity treatments. While it’s not harmful in short bursts, avoid inhaling the plume, as it contains particles that may be irritating if inhaled long-term.
Pain Management / Cooling
One of the most common concerns with laser hair removal is pain, often caused by thermal heat triggering pain receptors in the skin.
These receptors are activated when the skin temperature rises above a certain threshold—around 45°C (113°F). The typical dermal temperature is around 37°C (98.6°F), so even a small increase of 8°C can cause discomfort.
During the treatments, people sometimes feel slight pain, like a rubber band snapping. Some at-home IPL windows can even reach temperatures of 100°F during use.
Cooling the skin surface helps prevent the heat from reaching levels that trigger pain receptors.
Applying effective cooling methods before, during, and after treatment is crucial for reducing this discomfort or preventing a burning sensation.
Tips from our Testers: Additional Cooling Techniques for Sensitive Skin or Low Pain Tolerance
These can help in ensuring the safety and comfort of your skin, especially for high-intensity treatments like High and SHR modes.
- We’ve noticed the flash window itself frosts almost immediately, but you can wait a few more seconds before starting if you prefer it colder.
- Pre-Cooling – After skin contact but before flashing, let the device linger on the skin for a few seconds to help numb the area and prepare it for the treatment. This helps cool down the skin and make the procedure more comfortable. In Auto + High Mode, the gap between flashes will do this for you.
- Parallel Cooling – (Automatically done by the device, this is just FYI) During flashing, the device’s cooling mechanism actively cools the skin, helping to reduce the sensation of heat from the light pulses. This continuous cooling keeps the skin’s surface at a more comfortable temperature.
- Post-Cooling – After each flash, let the device remain in contact with the skin for a few more seconds to cool it further. This is crucial for removing excess heat that may remain trapped in the skin, reducing pain and potential skin damage.
- Sensitive areas first – While the glass keeps its temperature for the duration of the treatment, our testers noticed the device itself gets progressively hotter during extended treatments. This shouldn’t matter in larger areas but can be noticeable if you work on tight spaces like the bikini area.
By incorporating these cooling techniques—you can significantly reduce the pain typically associated with IPL hair removal treatments.
The downside is it will make your sessions considerably longer. You will have to compromise on this for now, but hopefully, you can build more tolerance as you continue with your treatments.
Efficiency
AUTO vs. MANUAL Modes
The Ulike Air 10 offers two distinct operating modes—Auto Mode and Manual Mode—to suit different treatment areas and user preferences.
Both modes are designed to provide efficient and effective hair removal, but they serve different needs depending on the area you’re treating and how quickly you’d like to work.
AUTO Mode
Auto Mode is best for larger treatment areas, such as the legs or arms, where speed and efficiency are key.
Auto allows the device to emit light pulses at regular intervals without requiring the user to manually press the flash button each time.
- How it Works – To activate Auto Mode, simply press and hold the flash button for 1-2 seconds. Once activated, the device will automatically emit flashes at a set frequency. For even coverage, keep the sapphire treatment window in full contact with the skin and slide or stamp the device over the treated area.
- Efficiency – With Auto Mode, you can treat larger areas more quickly. For example, a full-body treatment can be completed in just 10 minutes, making it ideal for quick sessions when you're in a hurry.
MANUAL Mode
Manual Mode is best suited for smaller areas like the upper lip or bikini line, where more precision is needed. In this Mode, you manually press the flash button each time to emit a light pulse.
- How it Works – To use Manual Mode, place the sapphire treatment window firmly against the skin. Once in full contact, the skin sensor indicator will light up, signaling that the treatment window is ready. Press the flash button once to initiate the pulse, then move the device to the next area and repeat the process.
- Efficiency – Manual Mode is slower than Auto Mode but provides the precision necessary for smaller, more sensitive areas. While it requires more attention and movement from the user, it gives more control, making it ideal for targeted treatment.
Tips from our Testers: Using the Modes Efficiently
- Using Auto Mode – The key here is maintaining a steady pace. You’ll want to adjust your speed according to the flashing frequency—faster in Fast Mode and slower in High Mode. Our tester personally prefers ‘stamping’ over ‘gliding,’ as it ensures more thorough coverage and reduces the risk of missed spots. Also, try to keep an eye on the pulsing rhythm during Fast/High/SHR to avoid prematurely lifting the unit while flashing.
- Using Manual Mode – If you start to feel excessive heat during the treatment, it’s advisable to pause for a few seconds to allow the device to cool down before continuing. This will help ensure comfort and avoid potential skin irritation. You may also want to take extra care around sensitive areas, like the face or bikini line, to ensure you’re moving the device slowly and evenly.
Spot Size / Flash Window
The spot size of an IPL or laser device refers to the surface area of the treatment window through which the light pulse is emitted.
This directly impacts how much skin is covered with each flash, influencing both treatment speed and precision.
Why Spot Size Matters
- Larger Spot Size – Ideal for quickly covering broad, flat areas like legs, arms, and the back. However, it may struggle with smaller or contoured areas like fingers, toes, or facial features.
- Smaller Spot Size – Provides better precision for smaller or uneven areas but requires more time for large regions, making treatments slower overall.
Device | Spot Size |
---|---|
Braun Silk-Expert Pro 5 | 4 cm² |
Ulike Air 10 (SHR) | 3.9 cm² |
Ulike X for Men | 3.9 cm² |
Ulike Sapphire Air 3 | 3.3 cm² |
Tria 4x Diode Laser | 0.81 cm² |
With a 3.9 cm² flash window, the Ulike Air 10 balances efficiency for large areas and usability for smaller ones.
However, our tester noticed the larger head can present challenges for more intricate areas like toes or fingers.
Tips from our Testers: For Smaller or Uneven Areas
- Contact Issues – The safety sensor ensures the device only activates when in full contact with the skin. This can be tricky for areas like toes, where gaps and uneven surfaces can disrupt contact.
- Solution – Use Auto Mode so the device flashes as soon as it registers contact. No need to repeatedly press the flash button uselessly. Focus on maintaining consistent, full contact by gently wiggling the device into position.
Tips from our Testers: Trick for Toes and Fingers
- Position the device parallel to your toes or fingers rather than perpendicular. This improves contact and prevents the sensor from missing the skin tone due to gaps between the digits.
- In Auto Mode, move the device slowly across the area, letting it flash at regular intervals for full coverage.
Quality, Durability, & Lifespan
The Ulike Air 10 has 300,000 flashes, a noticeable drop compared to its predecessor, the Ulike Air 3, which offered 1,000,000 flashes.
This reduction might raise questions, but it’s likely due to the dual-light technology and the high-output SHR mode, both of which may consume the xenon lamp at a faster rate compared to single-light IPL devices.
A Hypothetical Explanation
The introduction of the SHR mode, delivering four pulses in quick succession at a higher intensity, likely accelerates the burn-through rate of the xenon lamp.
Additionally, the combination of two xenon bulbs and the advanced cooling technology could demand more energy per flash, reducing the total available flashes.
However, this is purely theoretical and has not been confirmed by the manufacturer.
While the Ulike Air 10 may have fewer flashes, it’s important to note that 300,000 flashes are still more than enough for several years of regular treatments for a single user.
For context, most IPL devices in this range offer between 200,000 to 500,000 flashes, and the Air 10 remains competitive given its advanced technology and power.
Build Quality & Durability
Despite the lower flash count, the Ulike Air 10 maintains excellent build quality with premium materials and a sturdy design.
The updated ergonomic features and enhanced cooling system contribute to its durability, ensuring that each flash delivers consistent power throughout the device’s lifespan.
Ultimately, while the reduced flash count might initially seem like a drawback, the Air 10’s cutting-edge technology compensates with faster and more efficient treatments, potentially requiring fewer flashes per session compared to other devices.
Product Technology & Clinical Efficacy Analysis
The technology might sound impressive with SHR Mode, Dual Lights, and Ice Cooling, but how do these features deliver results?
Let’s break it down and explore if the Ulike Air 10’s innovations are worth the hype.
Hair Removing Mechanism
IPL Technology
The Air 10 utilizes Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) technology, a widely recognized and clinically validated method for long-term hair removal.
This light-based technology targets the pigment in hair follicles with pulses of light energy, a process known as selective photothermolysis. This energy heats the hair bulb, disrupting the follicle's ability to produce new hair.
The device is engineered for home use, with 4 adjustable power modes, ensuring safety and efficacy.
The Ulike Air 10’s versatility allows treatment across various body areas, such as the armpits, bikini line, arms, and legs. Its efficiency levels make it stand out from other light-based hair removal systems.
Dual Lights Technology
The Ulike Air 10‘s Dual Lights Technology features a wider treatment window and double the light source, enhancing its performance.
This design not only accelerates treatment sessions but also ensures better coverage, making it particularly effective on stubborn or coarse hair.
Dual Lights enable the device to deliver faster results, with users observing visible changes in as little as two weeks.
This technology shortens treatment time and enhances hair follicle targeting by emitting light pulses more consistently and over a wider area.
The downside of the dual lights is the added weight and bulk.
We now have a larger, bulkier head compared to other models to accommodate the double lamps.
Despite the heft though, its weight is surprisingly evenly distributed. The curved body is also ergonomic, making it comfortable to hold and maneuver.
Still, lighter is generally better for a handheld IPL. This seems to be the trade-off for the innovative dual-lamp technology.
Hopefully, future iterations will retain the benefits of the dual lights while reducing the overall weight.
SHR Mode (Super Hair Removal)
The Super Hair Removal (SHR) mode combines high-intensity energy and rapid light pulses to maximize hair reduction results. SHR Mode operates at 26 joules of energy per 4-pulse burst, specifically targeting thicker and more resilient hair.
Clinical tests performed by SGS Laboratories show that the Ulike Air 10 achieves a 96.52% reduction in hair density within two weeks when using SHR mode.
While results may vary based on individual hair and skin characteristics, the device’s adjustable power levels and user-specific settings make it adaptable for a range of hair types and body areas.
SHR Mode is best suited for challenging areas such as the bikini line and underarms, where hair tends to be thicker and more deeply rooted.
Its manual operation ensures precision, particularly for targeted treatments.
The downside of this mode is that the multiple pulses take a while to complete AND reload.
While it’s useful, as the pauses help cool the skin from the high energy, treating a large area will take time.
If you're planning to do a whole-body session in SHR mode, put a podcast on and find a comfortable spot where you can do your treatments.
Skin Tone + Skin Contact Sensor
The Ulike Air 10 features an advanced Skin Tone Sensor, a critical safety feature designed to tailor the treatment to individual needs while ensuring optimal results.
Here's how it works:
- Skin Color Recognition – The sensor detects your skin's color when the device is in contact, automatically adjusting the light intensity to match your skin tone. This ensures effective and safe energy delivery without overexposure or risks such as burns.
- Contact Indicator
- When the device is in full contact with the skin and a valid skin tone is detected, the energy indicator light will turn white, signaling it is ready to operate.
- If the sensor is NOT in full contact with the skin or detects an invalid skin tone, the energy indicator light will turn red, preventing flashes and ensuring user safety.
Modes and Intensity Adjustment
- Normal and High Modes – The sensor dynamically adjusts the intensity of these modes based on skin tone, making it possible to use single flashes or continuous flashes depending on personal preference.
- Fast Mode – Operates at a fixed intensity with continuous flashes, making it ideal for larger treatment areas with consistent energy output.
This intelligent design ensures that every treatment is as safe and effective as possible, regardless of variations in skin tone across different body areas.
Power / Energy Levels
The Ulike Air 10 boasts 10 energy levels, with each flash dynamically adjusted based on your skin tone using its advanced Skin Tone Sensor.
This feature ensures that the right amount of energy is delivered for safe and effective treatments—reducing risks like burns while maintaining efficiency.
Why This Matters
- Skin-Safe Precision – Auto-adjustments provide optimal energy output for your unique skin tone. This minimizes risks and makes the device accessible to a wider range of skin types.
- Pros – Eliminates the guesswork of manual intensity selection. Reduces the likelihood of user error, particularly for beginners. Enhances safety for areas with varying skin tones (e.g., underarms, bikini line).
- Cons – Auto adjustments may limit user control for those experienced with IPL. Slightly slower on areas with extreme contrast (e.g., tattoos or freckles), as the sensor reassesses tone between flashes.
Comparison with Other Devices
The Air 10 stands out as the only IPL device we’re aware of combining cooling technology with auto-adjusting energy levels, an innovation not found in other models.
Device | Features |
---|---|
Ulike Air 10 (SHR) | Cooling + Skin Tone Sensor + Contact Sensor + Auto Adjust |
Ulike X for Men (SHR) | Cooling + Skin Tone Sensor + Contact Sensor + Auto Adjust |
Ulike Sapphire Air 3 | Cooling + Contact Sensor |
Beam Home IPL | Skin Tone Sensor + Contact Sensor + Auto Adjust |
Braun Silk-Expert Pro 5 | Skin Tone Sensor + Contact Sensor + Auto Adjust |
Philips Lumea | Skin Tone Sensor + Contact Sensor + Auto Adjust |
With its high energy output, cutting-edge cooling, and adaptive technology, the Ulike Air 10 leads the pack in both power and user safety.
Cooling Mechanism
Ulike’s patented Sapphire Ice-cooling Technology is designed to make hair removal treatments more comfortable and effective.
The cooling mechanism helps prevent burning and irritation by maintaining a consistent cool temperature during use.
Here’s how it works:
- Temperature Control – The Sapphire Ice-touch system ensures that the treated area stays at a comfortable 68°F or lower, significantly reducing the sensation of heat during the treatment.
- Epidermal Cooling – The technology selectively cools the epidermal layer and part of the dermis, which allows the device to deliver higher energy pulses without causing skin damage, ensuring both safe and effective treatments.
Unlike traditional IPL devices, which can reach temperatures of 100°F, Ulike’s Sapphire Ice-cooling system keeps the skin at a safe, cool temperature, making it suitable for prolonged treatments and improving comfort throughout.
Wavelength
Wavelength is the critical optical parameter that determines how light energy interacts with melanin in hair follicles.
In IPL technology, it's essentially the “targeting system” that determines which chromophores (color-absorbing structures) are affected.
Device | Wavelength Range |
Ulike Air 10 (SHR) | 550 – 1200nm |
Ulike X for Men (SHR) | 550 – 1200nm |
Ulike Sapphire Air 3 | 560 – 1200nm |
Tria 4x Diode Laser | 810nm |
BoSidin-Pioneer (OPT) | 650 – 910nm |
Beam Home IPL | 475 – 1200nm |
Key Points:
- Wider Range (550-1200nm) – Found in the Ulike models, this wavelength range allows the device to be effective for both fine and coarse hair, across a variety of skin tones. It's great for home use and offers flexibility in treatment.
- Medium Wavelengths (650-910nm) – Found in devices like BoSidin-Pioneer (OPT) and Tria 4x Diode Laser, these wavelengths are better for deeper hair follicle penetration, particularly effective for coarser hair or darker skin tones.
- Narrower Wavelengths (475-550nm) – Found in the Beam Home IPL device, these wavelengths are great for treating lighter hair types and surface-level skin concerns, though they can also be effective for certain skin types and conditions.
Choosing the right wavelength ensures that the light energy is absorbed by the hair follicle rather than the skin, leading to effective hair removal while minimizing risks like burns or skin irritation.

Ventilation
The Ulike Air 10 incorporates a smart ventilation system designed to protect the device from overheating and ensure user safety during and after operation.
- Avoid Blocking the Vents – While using the Ulike Air 10, ensure the ventilation slots remain unobstructed to allow proper airflow. Blocking the vents can lead to inefficient cooling and potential overheating. Fortunately, the updated ergonomic grip design minimizes the risk of accidental vent blockage, even during longer treatments, making the device easier and safer to use.
- Ventilation During Shutdown – Once you’ve completed your treatment, the fan remains active for 10 seconds after you initiate the shutdown process. This helps dissipate residual heat generated by the device’s powerful light source. The shutdown process is complete only after the fan stops spinning, so it’s important not to unplug the device prematurely.
Why This Matters – Allowing the fan to run ensures the device cools properly, preventing overheating that could reduce its lifespan or pose a safety risk.
Fan Speed Detection Module
- Automatic Fan Shutdown – The device is equipped with a fan speed detection module that monitors the fan’s performance. If the fan speed drops below 70% of its rated speed, the device will automatically shut down to prevent overheating and reduce the risk of burns.
- Important Reminder: Always allow the cooling fan to complete its cooling cycle before unplugging the device to ensure safety and optimal performance.
- These safety features collectively work to ensure that Ulike IPL devices provide a safe, effective, and comfortable hair removal experience.
Drawbacks
- IPL Glasses Visibility – The included IPL safety glasses can be difficult to see through in dimly lit rooms. Try to do your treatments in a well-lit room to see clearly while using the device.
- Fan Noise – The cooling fan is quite loud, likely due to the need to cool multiple lights and the cooling system during operation. This may be distracting for some users.
- No Auto Mode in SHR – SHR mode doesn’t have an auto mode, which some users prefer for quicker and easier treatment, especially for larger areas.
- Bulky as a Handheld IPL – The Ulike Air 10 is on the heavier side of IPL devices and can be challenging to hold for some, particularly during long sessions or full-body treatments.
- Heating After Extended Use – Our testers noticed the device getting hot after 30+ minutes of continuous use, even though the cooling window maintains its cold temperature. This may not be noticeable in larger areas but can be uncomfortable in tight spaces like the bikini area where the device can touch skin.
- Some Light Leakage – There is noticeable light leakage from the vents at certain angles, which can be distracting, particularly in darker environments.
- Limited Flash Count – The device offers only 300,000 flashes, which is lower than previous models.
Cost/Value for Money
The Ulike Air 10 is positioned as a premium at-home IPL hair removal device, and its cost reflects its advanced features and technology.
Cost Overview
- Price Point – The Ulike Air 10 is generally priced higher than basic hair removal devices but is still more affordable than multiple professional salon treatments. The exact price can vary based on promotions and retailers, but it is considered a significant investment compared to traditional hair removal methods like shaving or waxing.
Value for Money
- Effective Results – You can expect visible hair reduction in as little as two weeks, with many achieving significant results after a 12-week treatment cycle. This effectiveness can justify the initial investment, especially for those who would otherwise spend more on salon treatments over time.
- Long-Term Savings – By investing in the Ulike Air 10, users can save money in the long run by reducing or eliminating the need for regular salon visits or purchasing disposable razors and waxing kits.
- Advanced Technology – The device features cutting-edge technology, including dual lights for faster treatments, a skin sensor for safety, and ice-cooling technology for a pain-free experience. These features enhance the overall user experience and effectiveness, adding to its value.
- Convenience – The ability to perform hair removal treatments at home offers significant convenience, saving time and effort compared to scheduling and traveling for salon appointments.
- Satisfaction Guarantee – ULIKE offers a 100-day satisfaction guarantee, allowing users to try the device with the option to return it if they are not satisfied. This policy reduces the perceived risk of the investment.
The Ulike Air 10 presents a compelling value proposition for those seeking an effective, convenient, and pain-free hair removal solution at home.
While the upfront cost may be higher than traditional methods, the potential for long-term savings and the advanced features make it a worthwhile investment for many users.
Instructions/User Guide
To effectively use the Ulike Air 10 IPL Hair Removal Device for long-lasting hair removal, follow these detailed instructions:
Patch Test
Before your first treatment, conduct a patch test:
- Select a small area of skin to test.
- Connect the power adapter and turn on the device.
- Press the sapphire treatment window against the skin until the sensor indicator lights up.
- Move to another test position and change the treatment mode, pressing the Flash Button for another test.
- Wait 2 hours after testing to check for any adverse reactions. If there are no issues, you can proceed with the treatment at the tested energy level.
Preparation Before Use
- Shave the Treatment Area – Use the provided razor to remove all visible hair. Ensure there are no hairs longer than 2 mm, as longer hair can cause discomfort during treatment and may lead to a burning smell when the IPL light burns the surface hair instead of reaching the follicles. Only shaving is recommended for preparation; other hair removal methods may reduce treatment effectiveness.
- Clean the Skin – Remove any cosmetics, lotions, or creams from the area you wish to treat. Cleanse the treatment area thoroughly and pat it dry.
Device Setup
- Connect the Device – Find a comfortable place to use the device. Connect the power adapter to the handset and plug it into a power source.
- Safety Precautions – Wear the professional IPL safety glasses included with the device to protect your eyes from the light.
Using the Device
- Turn on the Device – Short-press the power button to turn on the handset. Adjust the intensity levels by short-pressing the button again. It is recommended to start with the lowest intensity (Fast Mode) and gradually increase it based on your comfort level.
- Full Contact – Place the sapphire treatment window firmly against the skin. Ensure the skin sensor indicator lights up, indicating proper contact.
- Start Treatment: Press the treatment button to begin. The light will pulse from the device. For full coverage, apply 2-3 flashes in each treatment area.
- Treatment Methods:
- Auto-Glide Method – Press and hold the Lightning button for 2 seconds to activate. Glide the device over larger areas like arms and legs.
- Manual Method – Short-press the treatment button for one flash at a time. This method is suitable for smaller areas like fingers and upper lips.
Post-Treatment
- Turn Off the Device – After completing your session, press and hold the On/Off button for 1 to 2 seconds to turn off the device. Always turn off the device before unplugging it to avoid damage.
- Follow-Up Schedule – For optimal results, treat the area every other day for the first month. After that, you can adjust to once every two weeks or monthly for maintenance.
By following these steps, you can effectively use the Ulike Air 10 IPL Hair Removal Device for long-lasting hair removal.

- Choose Your Skin Tone – Fair, Light, Medium, Tan, Tan-Deep, Deep
- Choose Your Hair Color – Black, Dark Brown, Brown, Dark Blonde, Red, Light Blonde, Gray/White
Effectiveness – IPL technology is most effective on dark hair and fair skin. It is least effective on blonde, gray, and red hair and is not suitable for very dark skin tones due to safety concerns related to higher melanin levels in darker skin.
Fitzpatrick Skin Types
Before using the device, identify your skin tone based on the Fitzpatrick Phototyping Scale, which classifies skin types as follows:
- Type I – Very fair skin, always burns, never tans.
- Type II – Fair skin, burns easily, tans minimally.
- Type III – Medium skin, sometimes burns, tans gradually.
- Type IV – Olive skin, rarely burns, tans easily.

Coverage: Body Areas
The Ulike IPL device can be used on most body areas, including: Legs, Arms, Underarms, Face (below the cheekbones), Swimsuit area
Sensitive Areas – While the device can be used on the bikini line, gentler settings are recommended for sensitive regions. Avoid using the device directly on the genitals, testicles, anus, or nipples.
Start with the lowest intensity level for sensitive areas like the bikini line, inner thighs, and buttocks to prevent discomfort.
The Ulike Air 10 IPL Hair Removal Device is a versatile tool for hair removal, but it is essential to ensure compatibility with your skin tone and hair color. Always follow the guidelines for safe use, especially in sensitive areas.
Important Notes
- Above the Cheekbones – Avoid using the device near the eyes, eyebrows, or between the eyebrows to ensure safety.
- Inner and Sensitive Areas – While the device is also designed for sensitive skin, it's crucial to adhere to usage guidelines and avoid mucous membranes or areas like nipples, the anus, or the inner bikini region.
- Cooling Technology – The extra-large sapphire cooling plate ensures a painless and soothing experience, even on more sensitive zones.
- Use appropriate energy levels for each body area based on sensitivity. For areas like the face or bikini line, it’s advisable to start with lower energy levels and work your way up as you build tolerance.
- Doing pre-cooling and post-cooling features ensure optimal comfort for the more sensitive body areas while maximizing the efficiency of hair removal.
Overall, the Ulike Air 10 offers full-body treatment capabilities, with the ability to customize settings for different areas, ensuring both efficiency and comfort.
Treatment Plan & Frequency
Usage Frequency
- Initial Phase (Weeks 1-4): Use the Ulike IPL device every other day, totaling three treatments per week.
- Maintenance Phase (From Week 5): Adjust the frequency to once every two weeks or once a month, depending on your hair growth patterns.
Treatment Duration
- Visible Results: Users can expect to see visible hair reduction in just 2 weeks. Most achieve desired results by the end of a 12-week treatment cycle, resulting in smooth, hair-free skin. Individual results may vary based on factors such as ethnicity, skin tone, hair color, and treatment area.
Recommended Flashes
- For each treatment area, apply 2-3 flashes for full coverage.
Customization Options
- You can customize the treatment schedule and intensity based on your hair type. For thicker or more stubborn hair, consider increasing the intensity and frequency within your comfort level. The device features several modes:
- Fast Mode: Gentlest setting
- Normal Mode: Intermediate intensity
- High Mode: Stronger energy output
- SHR Mode: Most powerful setting with the highest energy output.
Skincare After Treatment
- After each session, apply a soothing lotion or cold compress gel to soothe the skin.
- Avoid skincare products containing alcohol or any acidic/alkaline substances.
- Do not expose treated areas to direct sunlight for at least 48 hours post-treatment to prevent irritation.
Important Considerations
- The first treatment typically yields the best results, as the maximum number of anagen (growth phase) hairs are present. Subsequent treatments may have fewer anagen follicles available for effective treatment.
- Results can vary based on individual hair type, growth cycle, and adherence to the treatment schedule.
- Users with denser or coarser hair may require additional sessions for optimal results.
- Achieving long-lasting hair reduction depends on consistent use during the active hair growth
