Product Design & Experience Using the SALLOOT Trinity iGlow 10

First Impressions

The matte chrome hard shell casing gives it an aesthetic, high-end appeal. It feels sturdy and luxurious to hold, while the sleek design ensures it looks as good as it performs.

Even the LED display (which we’ve later discovered is a touch-screen!) isn’t your ordinary black panel. It has a metallic reflective surface that matches the color of the case.

The power cord is permanently attached to the device, similar to the Braun Silk-Expert model. 

While some might prefer a detachable cord, this design choice has practical benefits: it prevents accidental disconnection during treatment and potentially extends the device's lifespan by eliminating connector wear and tear.

Ease of Use

Initial setup is straightforward and user-friendly:

1. Connect the adapter to the power cord
2. Plug into a power outlet
3. Power on the device
4. Download the SMART AI app using the provided QR code (There’s a separate Quick Start card that helps you with this.)
5. Create your personalized treatment plan

For those new to IPL devices, the multiple settings and options might seem overwhelming at first. However, the steps are pretty straightforward as soon as you download the app.

We’ll delve into the specifics of this later.

Ergonomics & Handling

The device feels solid yet lightweight. This prevents hand fatigue during full-body treatments – a significant advantage over heavier devices that can become cumbersome during longer sessions.

This is particularly important when treating hard-to-reach areas or completing full-body sessions.

Buttons & Control Layout

• Power button – Located near the bottom on the right side. Long press for 2 seconds to turn the device on/off.
• Dual flash triggers – Both sides feature trigger buttons for use in MANUAL Mode, making it ambidextrous and convenient to operate.
• Touch-screen interface – Top panel display

Operating Modes

• MANUAL Mode – Short press the flash trigger button to activate a flash. Flashing occurs only upon full skin contact, ensuring safety.
• AUTO Mode – Long press to switch from MANUAL to AUTO Mode and vice versa. The AUTO Mode allows for seamless treatments. Simply stamp the device over the treatment area, and it flashes automatically.

I’ve only managed to use the MANUAL mode once or twice to be honest. The AUTO Mode is much easier to use and maneuver, even in smaller body parts. Just do a stamping motion while passing through the area and it flashes automatically. Super easy.

Ventilation & Noise

• Exhaust Vents – You’ll see exhaust vents at the back and on one side. Make sure you don’t block any of these holes to prevent your device from overheating. Careful to also not let anything get in it.
• Quiet Operation – We’ve also noticed that this device is notably quieter from all the IPLs we’ve tested. (Some IPLs sound like a hair dryer with how loud it can be!) There’s still a humming sound to indicate that it’s running, but it’s not as loud as others.

Control Panel & Indicators

When you turn on the device, the panel lights up and you’ll see the different settings available for you. 

• Body Area Indicators – Arms, legs, torso, face, underarms, bikini, fingers/toes.
• Cooling Indicator – Status of the cooling system.
• Bluetooth Indicator – Connectivity status for app integration.
• Energy Levels Indicator (5) – Adjustable intensity levels.
• Auto-Flash Indicator – MANUAL/AUTO Mode status.
• Energy Level Adjustment & Body Area Mode Buttons – The only two interactive buttons on the panel.

We test drove this without the app first, to see how it is as a standalone device.

It’s touchscreen, but there are only 2 icons you can toggle: the intensity level button and the body area mode button. The rest are just indicator icons that tell you if it’s on/off.

It’s a bit confusing at first because I thought every icon was a button I could toggle.

Turns out it was only these circled icons.

But then, the Ⓐ for AUTO flash is circled as well, so that’s just UI design flaw in my opinion.

The ((BT)) icon as the bluetooth indicator light also strays from the universally recognized ᛒ. Why not use the standard Bluetooth logo? I don’t know but that’s a tiny minus for easy usability. 

All that said, these are easily overcome and the learning curve is quick once you get the hang of it.

Size & Portability

It’s crucial for several key reasons:

• Reduces Hand Fatigue During Extended Use – IPL sessions can take 20-30 minutes for larger areas. A well-balanced, comfortable grip reduces hand and wrist fatigue for these longer treatments. Proper weight distribution also prevents muscle strain during overhead or hard-to-reach areas.
• Stable Handling for Precision and Safety – An ergonomic design also ensures stable handling and uniform coverage, minimizing risk of missed spots or overlap. Better control also helps maintain consistent contact with the skin surface and reduces risk of accidental flashing or treatment errors.

A comfortable grip allows you to maintain the correct angle against skin and give you better maneuverability around contoured body areas (like knees, ankles, bikini line). It makes it easier to follow the required grid-like pattern systematically.

Operations

Safety Goggles

Before doing anything, make sure you’re wearing protective safety goggles.

These are for safeguarding your eyes from intense pulsed light during treatments. While the device has built-in safety features, the bright flashes can still be uncomfortable and potentially harmful to sensitive eyes over time.

Green-tinted glasses are especially effective because they filter out high-intensity wavelengths. This ensures superior protection and clarity, allowing you to work safely and comfortably while maintaining clear visibility of the treatment area.

AI Adaptive HR™ App

While the device can function as a standalone unit, the AI Adaptive HR™ app is what really sets it apart from other IPL devices. 

This smart app uses the latest advanced technology to enhance your treatment experience by offering:

• Personalized Customization – The app adapts settings based on your skin tone, hair color, and treatment area, ensuring optimal energy levels and safety for every session.
• One-on-One Guidance – Step-by-step tutorials and recommendations are provided, guiding you through the process to maximize hair removal efficiency.
• Progress Tracking – Monitor your treatment history and results over time, helping you stay consistent and see measurable improvements.

This innovative app turns the SALLOOT Trinity iGlow 10 into a smart, interactive hair removal system that’s easy to use and highly effective.

Once you’ve downloaded the CTONE app (Available via Google Play or Apple Store), connect your device via Bluetooth.

Once in, you can choose between two modes: Newbie and Expert. (Note that your device must be plugged in before you continue.)

NEWBIE Mode

1. Select the hair removal area.
2. Log your basic details including: gender, height, weight, skin tone, hair density, and hair color. This will serve as the basis for your personalized configuration.
3. Click ‘Start’. The device will automatically turn on and track your session in real time.
4. Once completed, you’ll get a brief AI report if you’ve completed the recommended amount of flashes, how far you are in your treatment. There is also a section on aftercare.

EXPERT Mode

The Expert mode gives you full control of the SALLOOT Trinity iGlow 10:

• No. of Flashes – You can see how many are left from the initial 999,999
• Power the Device On/Off via Bluetooth
• Adjust Energy Levels – Fine-tune the energy intensity for different treatment areas and skin types according to your preference
• Switch Between AUTO/MANUAL Modes – Choose between automatic mode for hands-off treatment or manual mode for more precise control

This level of control enhances flexibility, precision, and ease of use, making the treatment process smoother and more efficient.

When done, you’ll get a similar AI report as the one in the Newbie section.

One standout feature is how seamlessly the app syncs with the device over Bluetooth, giving you full control at your fingertips. 

However, there is room for improvement. The app occasionally resets to the main window when interrupted by messages or notifications, meaning completed sessions may not always be recorded.

Despite this, the AI Adaptive HR™ App is an incredible addition to DIY hair removal. 

By combining personalized care plans, real-time analysis, and device control, it redefines at-home IPL, making it safer, smarter, and more effective.

• Tips for Use – Glide or stamp the device smoothly across the skin to ensure even coverage and avoid overlapping flashes.

MANUAL Mode

• What It Is – In MANUAL mode, flashes are triggered by pressing the button for precise control.
• Best For – Smaller, more sensitive areas like the bikini line, underarms, and face, or darker areas where more care is needed.
• Why Use It – Manual mode allows for greater precision, making it ideal for targeting specific spots or areas that may require pre-cooling or extra attention.
• Tips for Use – Use manual mode if you’re using level 3-5 intensity for darker areas. There is about a second delay in between that can act as pre-cooling/post-cooling. This can be your extra protection to ensure comfort and avoid any irritation.

It also reverts back to the main screen if you accidentally press the wrong button, causing you to lose your current session. Additionally, the app sometimes turns off the phone, requiring you to wake it up repeatedly.
6. Confusing LED Panel UI – The LED panel interface can be a bit confusing at first, especially for new users. While it becomes more intuitive over time, it could benefit from a clearer design to make it easier to operate right from the start.
7. Safety Goggles Reduce Visibility – The included goggles provide essential eye protection, but they can make it hard to see the LED display clearly, especially in low-light conditions. When this happens, we’ve found it more convenient to operate the device through the app instead of directly from the unit.

9. Difficulty with Small Areas – The large flash window is excellent for covering large areas quickly, but it can be difficult to target smaller areas like the upper lip or jaw line accurately. This is the natural trade off with the bigger Sapphire window it comes with.
